Wrapping the coat also requires skills. If someone doesn't wrap the dog's coat properly, the purpose of the wraps becomes defeated as the coat would become more damaged. Another alternative one may do is to apply oil or any conditioning/protective coating to the hair and section the hair like in wrapping but only do banding. It's a great way to also keep the coat away from the butt without the more extensive effort wrapping requires. Just make sure to cut the bands when removing them and don't re-use them to prevent coat damage. The type of flooring also affects the coat. When the flooring is carpeted or when your dog is always playing on grassy surface, if you intend to keep the hair long, you have to do banding or wrapping so the ends won't get damaged.
