A crate should only be so large that the puppy can stand, turn about, and lay again. No larger.

Sounds messed up? It's HOME for a puppy! Few pups will poop so that they have to lay in it. They find that gross, and Yorkies in particular are hygenic dogs in my opinion.

If it's possible, you may consider doing out-door potty training if the pads are simply not working. Chewey was supposedly "pad-trained" when I got him. The results were exactly like I have read a hundred others report on here: Poops on it (most of the time), pees near it.

Chewey reminded me of a cat in so many ways, particularly his hygenic bent, so I thought perhaps he felt gross with the pads. I changed him to out-door training. Worked very well for me. I have a thread on here where I really detailed the process I used. It's something to consider.

As for pad-training, there's little I can offer you. Good luck!
