Thanks so much for the replies...I will definitely book mark this page. I do think part of the problem is that the vet is too close and too easy to go to. Even though Im an Rn and should be calm I tend to get panicky when my dogs seem to be suffering. Everytime I took them in to the er vet it seemed to be an emergency...I never took them to the er vet for itching...Im not that panicky. But I have taken two of them in for diarrhea and vomiting and theyve given them antibiotics and fluids. I definitely could have waited till the next day to see the regular vet....they are so little though and I know they can dehydrate so fast. The other times to the er vet have been that darn reverse sneezing or like the other night with my Maltese...trouble breathing.
I do like the ideas of setting money aside whether a credit card or a savings for this alone but right now money is pretty tight. Thanks for the great ideas.
