My mother had a little Shih Tzu who always took a stuffed toy outside with him when he went out to potty. She had a fenced yard and when he needed to go out, he got a toy and sat at the door to be let out. Sometimes he brought them back in, but mom had to retrieve them sometimes, too. When my Bichon and I went to visit, he would bring my dog his stuffed toys to play with.
