OK, after lots of reading and help from Vett, we have decided that Lexi has both. She has never had a knot, or matt (and I have missed a day here and there brushings) She is smooth and silky, but she has the thickness, and (very little) a little fluff when blow dried of a cottony coat. I think I was just very lucky and got the best of both worlds...
