I don't think that if someone doesn't want to pay $1,000 for a family pet or can't afford $1,000 isn't always broke or couldn't afford vet care etc. These rescues might not be for a lower income type family as they have medical issues. But there are rescues out there, that are already spayed/neutered, that would make wonderful pets for a family that won't or can't shell out $1,000+ for a dog and still could afford vet care.
