I agree with CC Kent, the color will change various times over his lifetime. I know my 12 1/2 yr old has a different color now than even a few years ago. But the texture will not change. You usually can tell if a coat is silky or cotton when they are a pup. Many cottony coats are the cute fluffy full coated puppies that everyone loves. But a true silk coat yorkie usually looks like they don't have much hair when they are young, their coat is thinner but fills out with age.
