Yorkie with cut eye/cornea? My Yorkie is a rescue--a brave, proud, independent little fellow who was found struggling in a Florida subdivision pond. He was completely blind. Signs were put up, but no one claimed him so people who found him gave him to a rescue group, along with a generous donation. The rescue group came up with the rest of the money so that he could have eye surgery to repair one eye. So he could see!
This morning he woke up and did the unheard-of for him: he piddled on laundry-room floor. He NEVER has accidents! Then he turned in circles. I sped him to vet, who stained his eye and found a cut on the eye. He was absolutely fine Thurs. night. I don't know how he got it unless he scratched it himself. He sleeps in bed with me and usually doesn't move until morning when I pick him up and take him downstairs to go out.
It is breaking my heart. He is on antibiotic eye ointment and pills, and I will take him for a re-check Mon. He will not even attempt to walk down back steps. I take him in and out and stay right by him. He hasn't "fussed" at me once today! So unlike him!
Has anyone had a Yorkie with a cut on eye? Did the cut heal with no after-affects? Did it make them unable to see at all? My dog only had the one good eye (articifial lens). Vet said that I can take him to vet. eye specialist in Mt. Pleasant if not better Monday. It kills me to see him so quiet and subdued. He usually lets me know immediately and exactly what he wants! |
