I have picked my dogs up like that before. Especially if they are overly excited. It releases feel good endorfines(sp?), they will calm them down. Sometimes if I need to pick them up and they are acting crazy-it is a safe way of getting them- they can't just jump out of your arms this way. With that said, I don't just leave them dangling out there....
