First Puppy Class - Not Exactly What I Expected
Joey and I went to our first puppy class yesterday. This isn't something I've ever done before so I didn't know exactly what to expect. I thought there'd be more time spent on socialization, both with the other dogs and with their humans. [It's a class designed for puppies 12-18 weeks old.]
The only socialization done was an exercise in which we walked around the room with our pups and greeted each dog for a count of 3 only before moving on. Instructor said that pups need to learn to break eye-contact after 3 seconds so that other dogs don't perceive them as a threat.
The rest of the class was spent teaching sit, down, wait, and leave it.
Does this sound like other young puppy classes?
