The one made for the console has the safety strap that hooks to his harness attached to it. The other comes with a safety strap (looks like a big dog collar) that you clip around the seat belt - seat belt runs along the back of the car seat. Here's a pic of how the seat belt goes along the back - the dog isn't hooked in though...
