Devastated that my was to be future breeding female is LP grade 2 Yes as if I wasn't having enough life problems atm with my husband losing his job, my cairn is allergic to staph and in the midst of a raging staph infection, my rottie tore a thigh muscle and now my little over a year old female yorkie has bilateral lp grade 2. I am devastate. Yes this is a second opinion too. The first Vet said grade one in one knee but referred me to a surgeon for surgery so I wrote her off as insane. But I know this Vet and know she knows her stuff so there is no question in my mind about this. To make matters worse, my baby weighs 3.9 pounds and not the 5 pounds the other Vet has been telling me for months. I thought she looked awful small for 5 pounds!!! To me, breeding her under 5 pounds is unacceptable and compounded with bilateral lp just confirms it 1000000x. I was so certain she was going to be fantastic that I have her boyfriend here already paid off and loved too death. I was only ever going to do one litter and then spay but now it will never be. It's just so disappointing.
Pantera (my girl), moves fine for grade 2. You would never know to look at her. The Vet saw how floored I was and I think is giving it time to sink in before she talks any further to me about it. As far as I know right now there are no surgery plans. I have started her on glucosamine (prescription and not over the counter) and plan to put all my dogs on it. My Rottie has been on it. I guess I need to my peace with the spaying part and schedule that for September or October as her heat cycle just ended a week or so ago.
ARGH!
Then I will need to decide about my male I guess. To neuter or not. He's 5 months old now and I could grab him before he starts the leg hiking.
UGH!!!!
