We have a husky and another dog that is half husky half lab. One is 6 months old and weighs 55 pounds... the other is about 35 lbs.and 3 years old. My yorkie is almost 5 lbs. The big dogs are pretty much outside and not in much. The yorkie plays with them some but I keep an eye. When it was just the husky and the yorkie they played all of the time. But when the other one came it just gets too rough. I don't have to do much because the yorkie already keeps distance on her own. She's pretty fast and most of the time she just plays referee with them when they are playing rough. She runs around them barking and has gotten pretty darn quick at jumping out of the way. Yorkies are alot tougher then some want to admit and can hold their own pretty well. So much so they can get themselves into trouble. I'd just always keep an eye on them because you never know. Doesn't mean you can't have both though. I also have a friend who has a golden and a pom and hasn't ever had any problems. Hope this helps some....you can do both with a watchful eye. |
