Of course they are. Researching the breeder and pedigrees should always come as a general rule of thumb, regardless of breed. But when you have a dog that has a BIG difference in appearance or structure that varies form what is consdiered the 'norm', particularly when they are being marketed as 'rare' and for unusually high prices, I think that is grounds for increased concern and skepticism.
