I definitely think it's a good thing for him to be in the x-pen until he's much older & can hold his pee for longer. I keep Edward in the x-pen for about two hours at a time (when my daughter is awake & walking around), & he sleeps with me in my bed. He can hold his pee for a long time now (he's five months old) & he always pees on the puppy pads now, so I feel comfortable having him roam around the house. Before though, I would always keep him in there all day & all night (of course I took him out to play with him & such). I think about a month ago I finally trusted him to roam around, & he hasn't had an accident yet
