I feel the same way about my in-laws. Let's just say their view on pets and thier place in the world and how they should be cared for and treated is MUCH different than my own. I have told my husband this and at first he didn't understand why I couldn't just 'overlook' it when I was around them for the sake of keeping peace with them. I think he finally came around and understands, maybe coupled with the understanding of other issues we both have with them, and for the most part, we just stay away as much as possible. I am very glad that you fiancee understands and feels the same way you do towards the situation. It would get very complicated if here were blind to it and looking at his family as if they could do no wrong.
I'm glad your husband see's your point of view because why should we go against our own beliefs to "keep peace"? It's frustrating how the good people with values always have to shut up and put up isn't it?
