Well, the dog food you're feeding is balanced nutritionally already - especially the calcium/phosphorous ratio (which is what people always have to be vigilant about when feeding only homecooked food). So, when you start adding *real* food to their kibble (which is balanced) - you start to change the balance. It's fine to add *some* real food - but when you start to hit a point where more than 15-20% of their food is coming from *real* food, you're tipping the balance too far - and then you need to figure out supplementation to bring it back into balance (calcium/phosphorous etc). Does that help? I hope it makes sense, it can be confusing...
