It's a fallacy that dry food keeps their teeth clean.... If that was true, there wouldn't be so many kibble fed dogs that need teeth cleanings several times throughout their lives..... and our dentists would be telling us to crunch on croutons to keep our teeth clean (that's basically what kibble is, little crunchy carb bites).

In the long run, I believe your dog would be better off eating a moisture filled diet, such a high quality canned food or better yet, raw.

Is it just the cost that's making you want to change?

You could try a pre-made raw product like Nature's Variety. A 6lb bag of the beef goes for about $25 here, and I'm guessing would feed one Yorkie for close to a month.

If you do decide to change to a kibble diet, I would still at least add in some canned. The increased meat/moisture content is good for their kidneys, urinary tract system and overall health.
