I have known this guy a long time and being nice won't cut it with him. However, I really do like your idea of going up to him and saying: "I get the feeling that you don't like my dogs very much. I've heard you call them rats, which I believe is condescending, and my daughter also told me about your reaction to Matty barking the other day, which I believe is immature". Then I will go on to tell him that my dogs are precious to me and that I love them and I would appreciate it if he would just come to me if he has a serious problem with anything they do.

What do you think? I definately have the 'guts' to confront him that way!
