Geez, you Yorkie people are really wimpy!

I've played with frogs and toads since I was a little kid (and no I don't have warts!) There aren't any frogs in N. America that are poisonous to my knowledge but some toads, like the Cane Toad, but the majority just cause them to slobber or foam at the mouth a bit. I don't think we have any that are very poisonous here in Oklahoma. Remember frogs are slender and have wet, slimy skin, toad are fat and squatty and have dry warty skin.

The most common toad found in North American is the American toad. I guess they can make them sick if they swallow the milky substance they produce, but most dogs don't ever swallow it, they spit it out and produce the foam and saliva, which rids them of the poison. I guess it taste so bad they don't swallow it.

My dog Toby got a hold of toad, and he shook his head and slobbered and foamed a bit, but didn't get sick. And he leaves alone now.
