Oh yeah, the fact that I'm NOT rich probably plays a small factor there too...

Hopefully not everyone IS cynical...but hopefully everyone IS cautious, regardless of the situation. Yes, it is human nature to want to help--I think all anyone on either side here is trying to do is "help"--the interpretation of what that is is what differs. If people feel good about what they do, then there is certainly no harm in that!
