I have 4 dogs, 3 of them yorkies in full coat. There is no way I can afford to have them groomed professionally so I just started doing it myself after I got the 2nd yorkie 1 1/2 years ago. I learn as I go. I buy good products, have a goor scissors, dematter, slicker brush and comb and pin brush. I just learn by trial and error. I just now gave all 3 a bath and finished drying, trimming and combinbg out 2 and have 1 more to go. It takes me about 2 hours do do all three. I also have a grroming table and a small clipper for trimming ears etc. I don't know how to do short cuts that would be harder for me. But it's only hair and it will grow back, I figure. So far they look pretty good when I am done, I am having trouble with nails they just won't sit still for that. So I would get a good clippers and see what you can do.I have the Wahl chromini clippers, I have heard good things about Wahl. Good luck
