" It is so sad to see how the liberals have rushed to "politicize" this tradgedy! I'm so glad our president doesn't stoop to their level when he has had many opportunities to do so. They should remember his kind words for Mrs. Clinton and President Clinton when he unvelied the Clinton's portraits in the white House. They should also remember how he graciously asked his father an President Clinton to co-chair the Tsunami Relief efforts. He didn't have to do that! He is a man of class, intlelligence, ethics and I am so proud he is our president. To say that he doesn't care about African Americans is absurd! I too think the federal government was about 24 hours late in New Orleans and we need to find out why, but the onus lies on the mayor and the governor for most of the failure to evacuate. President Bush called Gov. Blanco on Saturday before the hurricane and offered the National Guard and she turned him down! The mayor sent many empty city buses out of the city when it was clearly in the evacuation plan to use the buses to get people out. "
I totally agree. Why on earth is everything Bush's fault? Where were the mayor of NO, the governor, their congressman, their senators? The levees financial support has been voted down by every politician since 1987, where was Clinton, the other Bush, and the rest of them? As far as him not liking black people, GET REAL NEW ORLEANS IS 70% BLACK! I tell you what, I don't care what I had to do, I would have walked out of NO, if I had no money or car. When someone tells you to get out, you get out!
I am not a prejudiced person, I have biracial grandkids, and I do not care what color you are, as long as you treat me and mine with respect too. However, I am damn tired of every time ANYTHING happens to a black person that is negative, it is because they are BLACK. I have my share of troubles as has everyone, I don't sit and whine, oh wow, it is becuase I am a white female, Geez, give me an f'ing break. OJ, Michael Jackson, etc. We just had a case here in LA where an 18 month old was killed by the police, and of course, it was the police's fault. It had nothing to do with the fact that her father was shooting up the streets and at cops and actually hit one, while he was using her (his daughter) as a shield. It had nothing to do with the fact that not only was he loaded on drugs, but that poor child had drugs in her system. It was the police's fault! I for one am damn sick of folks not taking responsibility for their actions. If you are shooting at the rescure's then damn you can forget me helping you, I am not going to risk my life because you made a poor choice. And as far as looting, I do not think that when the streets are flooded, no power, no food - that designer shoes, suits, liquor and drugs are what you would honestly be looking for unless you are a thief! I think there were definitely some problems with the responses, however, start with local authorities, as the states home rule comes first. If the state and local representatives were in trouble, it was their responsibility and duty to ask the feds for help. This is a national tragedy and I don't know what is worse, the storm/hurricane/flooding or the damn blame game. Grow up and assume responsibility for yourselves, it is not the government's job to take care of you. |
