I, myself, have a problem with the price asked for an altered dog. If I don't want to breed the dog, for upwards of 1200, especially the site that continuously offers dogs under 3-4# for $5000 and up, that should be my choice to alter the dog. That's an awfully lot of money for a dog that isn't in the original package. Now for $5000, and smaller than 3#, I would want more for my money than just the animal. I guess overall what I'm saying is that I resent the quality of the dog being brought down to less than breeding size. For $5000, I want a champion blooded, champion sired, champion!
And then to alter the dog up for adoption and want high prices on top of that? If I have to spay/neuter my dogs because they aren't suitable for my breeding program, I figure it's a business loss, kind of like losing a puppy. Granted I won't give the dog away but I can't see charging the price for an intact dog.
I'm afraid I'm not making a lot of sense here, but I know how I feel. Sylvia |
