The Merrick sticks are strange. They do smell, but they are all different. Some are stinkier than others, depending on the batch. I also think they smell like beef jerky and could smell worse, but they do have MORE of an odor than the low-odor ones, even if it's not an offensive odor.

SexyJessi257 - don't leave them out when they aren't chewing on them. I pick them up and put them on a counter or table. I take them away when they get to be too small because Loki will go and hide in the closet and put the whole thing in his mouth because he knows I'm going to come and make him spit it out... so we just try to avoid getting to that point. I've never had ants come after them (they usually dry back up after an hour or so of them chewing on them) but once they get down smaller than 3-4" or so I pick them up when they aren't actively chewing them.
