Harley was a little over 2 when I got him. He had been used for breeding and was a really bad marker. In fact he had not been in my living room for over 20 secs. and he lifted his leg on me, my son, and my TV!!!
I used belly bands because I did not want him to have surgery till he had gotten used to his new home and family and it seemed like he was marking every 10 mins! He marked for a couple of months after surgery, and now he is the best of all my dogs. I keep a pad tucked away in the corner and he even squats when he uses is. It may not help with all males, but it sure did with ours.
