When I went to pick out my puppy I had in mind that I would get a boy. My cat is a boy and I am a tomboy myself so I did not want a prissy pup. When I got to the breeder's, I fell in love with my little girl Bailey. And I even admit I *love* to make her look all girly. I have heard that it is easier to train girls at least less messy!
My advice is not to go with a certain gender in mind, but whichever pup you're drawn to most. As another example when I went to pick out my cat I wanted a girl but ended up with a boy and i LOOOOVE my kitty.
