Palpating the stomach doesn't really check for obstructions, only tenderness and/or whether tummy is hard or soft. As for food right now, the point is to get something carby IN her, that she'll eat and that will absorb quickly.
Adding some karo to a small bowl of water may help her drink more, yes. You'll get her through this - we're all here for ya.
