I think it's important for the breeder to know their dogs and to try and place each puppy in a home that is appropriate for him/her. They may all be Yorkies but they aren't little cookie cutter dogs. Some are just little love bugs that will do well in almost any environment so long as they are loved and cared for. Some are more sporty and really need a yard to play in. They are true TERRIERS with a high energy level and to place such a dog in an apartment would crush his spirit and lead to behavior problems. When I speak with prospective owners, I try to find out enough about their living situation so that I can steer them to a puppy that would be a good fit. A Yorkie is so much more than size, sex and coat quality. They are individuals just as any dog owner is. So far, I've never had a pup returned although every new owner is told that if, for any reason things don't work out, to return the puppy to me. Also, I've seen a few disturbing comments on this thread regarding the OP's BUSINESS and making a SALE. Anyone that breeds has made a SALE and has made a BUSINESS agreement with the new OWNER, no matter how much you care for your dogs. I don't know the OP so I can't make any insinuations about her motivations and, unless you do, please lighten up. As far as a 'customer from hell' list, anytime you say something negative about a person publicly you are exposing yourself to legal repercussions. I don't think returning a puppy because of 'allergies' or whatever would be enough to go public with it although you could privately warn other breeders if you felt the need to.
