Your compassion towards Trixie is so sweet. Please don't punish yourself too much. It sounds like you did the right thing by placing her in the crate then cleaning up the mess. (I've heard to never clean up their potty mistake when they can see you?? I have no idea if this is true or not??)
I have yet to find a Yorkie who never made a potty mistake.
