i have always heard "don't expect too much until they are at least 5 mo.) and i think by going by that ,i didn't expect much. and so every little step Ahia took to being trained was a good one. when she made a mistake i would just tell her "no no, out!" and take her out and say potty.( I couldn't do the pee pads because she wanted to just shread them) they are just little and young and they don't know what you want out of them. the only way they will get the message thru is to praise . they want to please you. (or get their treat)
it is like teaching them to sit. saying the word don't mean anything ,but by saying the word and pushing on the little hiney they soon learn what sit means to you.
potty training is something you have to give your total attention and stay on it.
