I went by the home yesterday and saw the little Yorkie. I will post part of what I wrote to
ctvol in an e-mail.
Well, we drove by and saw the little one. I did notice another dog that is a large breed that was outside, un tied just laying down near their shed/garage. I then saw the little Yorkie. That is definitely a Yorkie. He/She was laying down when we drove by, so we did not see any movement. We did notice the steal chain that is dangling from a tree/line that he/she is tied to. We also saw the 2 buckets they have out for I assume water and food. However, these buckets are way too big for the little one to get into. I did notice that 1 bucket was tipped over with it looks like nothing coming out. Is this what you have witnessed?
We did see the igloo, however, my main concern is that with the chain, how is he/she able to go completely inside the igloo for protection and comfort? From first glance, the situation did not look that bad, however, the more we analyzed everything (the buckets, chain, how he/she would get into the igloo) we realized the situation is a little rougher than we thought. I am unsure why they tie him up, but leave the larger dog free. I also do not understand why they would take in a small dog and tie him/her up outside, either.
If you feel comfortable, I would suggest maybe an anonymous letter stating/suggesting some things (politely of course) on how to maybe make the situation a bit better with supplying some information on the Yorkie breed.
--I then offered that if the situation was to not improve or get worse, he could call Animal Control. The situation was not 'terrible' so to say. It just looked a bit off as I do not understand why the dog cannot stay indoors. Any added advice would be great!
