I think it all depends in the area. I paid 450 for spaying, pulling one tooth, microchip, and meds. Yes, the SPCA or your local humane society is really cheaper. It was going to cost me only 140 to get Lola spayed and microchiped at the humane society but they would not do the tooth extraction nor give me any meds, so I decided to go to my regular vet instead and pay the extra money in order not to have to put lola under anesthetia for the tooth later. In your case if you do not have to do anything else but the spaying, I think the spca could work well.
