I've been curious about this:

If your yorkie has all his/her vaccinations and takes anti-parasite medications (topical and oral), what are the primary dangers of getting a tick? Also, why does it matter if you remove the entire tick (i.e. you accidentally leave the head attached)? When I was a kid, my grandparents had several dogs on their farm that always had plenty of ticks and they never had any health-related problems. I know that a case study such as that means nothing but...

I've just never seen people so concerned about ticks as individuals are here.
