It's going to take more than most people think to change the horrible situation breeding facilities have created across the country and even south of the border. This country is based on capitalism. As long as there is a demand, there will always be a supplier. The only way to stop this is to pass laws limiting the number as well the living conditions of the animals. I cannot see it happening in this country anytime soon. For example, our government officials are not looking at the conditions in which yorkies are bred. They are looking at the big picture. All dogs. The laws that people want to see passed must apply to all dogs and not just our precious little yorkies. |
I agree with many things you have said, and for years didn't believe in buying a purebred dog because so many dogs are being killed. This is a personal decision, and not one I want to make for others, but one I made for myself. This is probably the last dog, I'll ever own, and I wanted a dog like this all my life, so I finally told myself "yes." I wanted to find what I thought was an excellent breeder; someone who really was interested in improving the breed, and someone who wasn't contributing to the unwanted dog population. Many breeders, such as herself, will take a dog back, and find it a suitable home for the life of the dog. None of her dogs will ever end up in shelters. This is one of the reasons I felt I could, in all good conscious support this breeder.
I appreciate all your replies, and I'm really just asking you for one thing; to see the home for yourself, in which the puppies are raised, and recommend others do the same. If you tell 10 people, and they tell 10 people, and they tell 10 people . . . . .
