I too ONLY trim the tips and file this way I know I'm not getting the quick. Teddy hates to have his nails done but I do it anyway if he wins then I'll never be able to trim his nails!!! I trim mine once a week and they do fine...I don't have to do my 3 girls back paws as we have tile in our Yorkie Room and I think it's keeping them wore down. Lee
