I lack any and all ego so I dont have anything to prove. AKC or otherwise as long as she is a healthy girl! And I suppose if I did - I wouldnt do it via dog!
Thanks Y'all! |
When she goes for her check up, make sure she gets a bile acids test to test her liver function and that her vet checks her knees. Liver shunts and luxating patellas are genetic in Yorkies.
The problem with puppy mill puppies is that no genetic screening or health testing is done before breeding since it is a for profit business only. Mill dogs can carry "genetic time bombs" that may not go off for years. I am not trying to scare you, just trying to make you aware that you really can't "rest easy" after her checkup. With any dog it's a good idea to have an account set up for unexpected vet bills; with a puppy from a mill or backyard breeder, it's a must.
Her humble background won't effect how much you love her, though. My Lady is a rescue and also poorly bred. Her vet bills and medications run about $5,000 a year now, but I couldn't love her any more if she were from a top show breeder.
