My puppy did the same thing, I use to tell my neighbors ahead of time when I'm cutting his nails so they won't think that I'm killing him
People in my apartment complex call him the "little boy who cried wolf"
His nails were never cut prior to me getting him so I clipped the nails his first day home because they were sharp and would snag on the carpet and my clothes.
I've never cut the quick or anything, he just doesn't like getting his nails trimmed. Some days he lays on his back and goes to sleep without a peep, and other days he does the flat out scream at the top of his lungs, while I trim his nails.
Same thing with his hair, I would brush him with a soft bristle baby brush, or pretend like I was brushing him with the tip of my finger, and he would still scream.
He's just a very dramatic

People are shocked when they hear the loud sounds that
come out of his barely 2lb body.
But he does fine with getting his nails trimmed and being brushed
now unless he decides to go into one of his moods
