a child is a bit different. They're human beings therefore are in a whole other slew of rules and regulations where as animal laws are still being formed and reconformed. I know my Yorkie can't stand to be in the heat more then 5-10 minutes. he will literally race for shade and even then he can only withstand so much heat. His coat it seems like it absorbs the sun and he has a short cut.
