I just scissor cut my baby for the first time. He did surprisingly well, as did I. HAHA. I trimmed the side belly hair and his legs a little bit to even them out. Once he gets more used to being trimmed he'll probably stand straighter. He has a tendency to stand with an arched back when he's on an uncomfortable surface (table, etc.)... But I did rather well I think. I didn't take too much off which is what I was afraid I'd do. I did learn one thing - after - i trimmed his head hair. HAHA. I had cut from ear to ear (direction) versus tail to nose... Well that left a 'shelf' OOPS... I tried to even it out and I did pretty good. Next time I trim his head hair I'll go from tail to nose as to not have a shelf-like look :P makes more sense (after the fact).
He stood pretty good for me on the table, but he was shaking the entire time. Poor skerd baby.
I even had the guts to trim his peepee hair! yay! Although getting him on his back was a challenge but I'm working on the cesar milan techniques with him and they do seem to be working - when I do it right.
I had bought a mustache trimmer thingy like to do eyebrows and neck hair, ya know that 10 dollar little thing they used to sell on tv. Anyway, that did absolutely nothing forh is hair. He has very fine cottony hair but its too thick or idk, it didn't work to do his paw pads. That's why I bought it. I'll have to invest in some good smaller scissors or a doggie clipper.
I already did the first time I groomed him -but should I grim his ear hair down or leave it a bit scraggly? I noticed that after I trimmed his hair on the outers of his ears it made him look like he had giant ears... Ah the questions of a newb groomer.
Guess I should do the belly first then the sides and legs. IDK, just making observations and learning. Any tips would be appreciated. :-)
