Hi Maxi Welcome to the forum. You'll always find a lot of very nice, helpful people here. I'm so sorry about your daughter-in-law, for the pain it's causing you and your family, on top of everything else you're going through.
Please believe what Nancy said about what you did not being a crime. I completely agree with her that this guy is just trying to scare you, and it's probably because you've scared him. I would suggest that you not see an attorney unless you've been served, or unless the attorney is going to offer you a free consultation. Honest attorneys (there are some) will tell you that you're throwing your money out the window to try to retain them if you haven't already had papers served. Most people who threaten to sue you are, as Nancy said, just using it as a scare tactic to back you down. If anything, you should be suing them.
Your story has given me a great deal of inspiration, but I won't go into the reasons for that right now, because this is your thread. I do want to say, though, that your dedication and persistence has helped me make up my mind about something, and for that, I'm very grateful.
Thanks, and much love,
