Transport him in a plastic sided crate, which will obstruct his view and may help with the "motion" sickness.

I also suggest desensitizing him to the car.

1. Take him to the car with the door open.
2. Allow him to sit in the car, door open and give him a treat.
3. If he's panting heavily, or showing distress, take him out of the car.
4. Let him stand/sit/down next to the car and treat for calm behavior.
5. Once you can have him sitting in the car with the door open, try sitting in the back seat with him and closing the door (windows open.)
6. If he responds well, give him a treat.
7. Next, have him sit in the back seat while you get into the driver's seat. Praise him for calm behavior.
8. Start the car, and sit in the car with him for 5 minutes. If he is calm, try sitting in the car for 10 minutes with it running and the a/c on if it's hot.
9. If he is still calm, back the car out of the driveway, then pull back in and park. Turn off the car and take him out.
10. Repeat the process until you can take longer and longer drives with a calm dog.

This sounds time consuming, and it is, but if you want to avoid meds and car sickness, then this is what you need to do.

Good luck!
