I don't see much of a difference in "2 or 3 lbs" and "3.4-3.6 lbs." (you said your girl was usually 3.4-3.6) We are talking about oz. in difference here... Was this an accidental breeding or planned? I would never breed a girl under 5 lbs. My girl Chelsea was accidentally bred several yrs. ago at 4 lbs. She had on Fancy Pants (protective dog panties for heat cycle) and needless to say i've never used that method again! We thought she was safe but she was bred through the hole that is the opening for the tail. I looked down one day and she was under my desk butt to butt with one of my boys. My heart sank! She had a c-sec right after struggling to the point of giving up with just getting one puppy out. I was about to lose my mind. Had me so torn up. I felt guilt and totally responsible. She was spayed during her c-sec and all pups did well, and taught me a good lesson but it broke my heart to watch her try to nurse with staples in her swollen little belly. We just wanted to keep this little girl as our pet and love her and due to our negligence we produced puppies that we otherwise would never have considered. We found loving homes for all 4 and made sure they were not going to ever be bred. My negligence was costly too, I might add.
IMO there are some people who are obsessed with owning or producing small, tiny yorkies and that's ok by me because i like little one's for a pet as long as their from healthy lines; just not for breeding. I feel they should be placed as pets only and the breeder should stand firm behind his or her contract regarding this. What some don't understand is it's dangerous breeding little one's (females) and you can breed two 5-7 lb yorkies together and get a mixture of very small to large pups in one litter. Usually the tiniest puppy is a runt. Not a gentically altered dog bred down to only produce that same size. I'm sure alot of lines do carry a small bone stucture gene these days from all the line breeding that has been done to get the tinies. Also I'd like to say that I'm not bashing tiny yorkies! I think they are adorable. However, for breeders there are alot of pros and cons concerning them. I'm glad your little girl is doing good with her milk and her puppies. I hope you have an easier experience with it than I did. Best Wishes,
