He wants to be reimbursed for all the military money he sent home from boot camp. Mind you, this was while they were still together and it went for bills. He called her last night making demands. Hubby and I have decided we will go in debt to get her a lawyer if need be. If he keeps making demands I told her to ask for alimony as she just has a part time job at Linens and Things right now.

I am sorry your daughter is going through all of this But...
get a lawyer..he cannot make her give back money that while together while he was at boot camp it went on their housing..tell her to tell him to talk to her lawyer.. a lawyer will make sure it is done right.. to look after your daughter finances.. also go after support if this is what he is wanting.. he will have to pay her.. until she remarries...anne
