My smallest little girl had the surgery when she was 7 mos. old. She is 1-1/2 now. She did just fine with it. She had pain meds for a few days and of course slept a little more. They wanted her to start walking on it right away, so no cast or anything. I just had to keep her from jumping and running - but that was not even a problem for us.
I had a specialist do the surgery and I think it cost around $1200 total.
