The reason I think taping is silly,is because it looks silly and MUST be so uncomfortable for the poor dog.I live in spain and taping isnt done here, and I see lots of yorkies lately..all with pointed ears.Iv always thought (and still think) that if the ears are going to flop, they´ll do so no matter how many rolls of tape you wrap them in...and if theyre going to stand, they´ll do so without any help from us.
I just keep the hair on the ears VERY short, thats the only thing I think really helps. As I said before,Lady has always had pointed ears, but Jess still has one ear down Shes 3 months old (27-04-04) and Im not bothered with helping it up..I mean, how many yorkies have floppy ears? Iv seen hundreds and thousands of yorkie pictures and yorkies and not one has had floppy ears..and Im sure that not every one tapes them. Its true that when you read about "standard",the ears are supposed to be erect, but really this just means that as a rule, they stand..not that having one ear down will break the standard. If your yorkie is your pet and not a show dog, standard is not an issue anyway..it can weigh 14lb´s and have floppy ears and STILL be a great looking yorkie
