Because canned food is full of moisture which can't be counted, you have to convert it to a dry matter basis. So, first find the reciprocal of the moisture. If the moisture is 70%, the reciprocal is 30. If the moisture is 75%, the recipracol is 25. Then divide the fat by the recipracol of the moisture. This also works for protein.

The fat divided by the recipracol of the moisture (10 divided by 22) equals .45. Move the decimal point two places to the right and you have 45% fat.
You can do this for kibble also but the results aren't much different from what is on the bag.
