That sounds to me like a puppy mill situation where they do not want you to really see the conditions. They will meet you at a place and bring the puppy or pick up your check. A reputable breeder will show you where they are raised and the conditions that the puppies are living in. IMO, i wouldn't buy from someone that i just meet at a JITB and handed over $$.
It doesn't scream scam to me as much as it screams puppy mill but i could be wrong. We have so many great breeders on this site, you should check out the section for yorkies for sale or wanted or in our Featured Breeder section. There are some that are here in Texas too.
