I think if she is matting you might want to alter your grooming habits. After brushing use a comb and go close to the skin, all tangles most be removed before they turn into mats. Some people say that dogs with cotton coats require 2 grooming sessions a day, morning, and night, and especially when removing clothes. A leave on hair conditioner might also be helpful. Mats can cause them lots of pain, and it's best to prevent them. If you find that you haven't the time for this, maybe a shaved body would be more suitable, and you could leave the facial hair and topknot. |
I think that a short cut with a "lion face", is really cute! I have both my girls cut that way, and there is no matting at all. My boy is really silky, so I can leave his hair a bit longer. None of them have a topknot, though. They pull them out of each other's hair, then I have to worry about if they swallowed the hairband!!
