Lola I have a feeling she is one who runs a bit of a low temp normally. If you are there with her and keeping a close eye..I would not take it again for a few days, since it is not a good sign of whelping in her case.
Every few hours is stressful for her and you... Digging and nesting is not accurate, vomiting and refusing to eat is not...laying down, panting and pushing is a sure sign she is whelping!!...if your bitch notices the "leader of the pack" is worried and fretting, then she will be stressed...if all is well with the leader, then all is well in her world too...the temperament of the breeder is just as vital as the temperament of the dog.
PS..you may find it hard to believe, but I rarely even take temps before..after whelping, I take them twice a day for a week or so...
Some years ago, a friend wanted to go shopping..her girl was 59/60 days. We decided to take her temp and if it was normal, we figured we could go out for a few hours and all would be fine...the temp was 101..so off we go. She got home 4 hrs later to a litter of puppies... |
